Grievance Policy
Ocean County College provides both informal and formal processes to attempt to resolve disputes. A formal complaint is a request for the resolution of a problem, conflict, concern, or issue that negatively impacts a student(s). Students should refer to the Policy and Procedure for Formal Student Complaints (#5230) for more information.

ADA/504 Grievance Procedure
It is the policy of Ocean County College (the College) not to discriminate on the basis of disability. The College has adopted an internal grievance procedure providing for prompt and equitable resolution of complaints alleging any action prohibited by the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) and/or Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (29 U.S.C. 794). Ocean County College also strongly encourages individuals to attempt to resolve issues informally, though the informal process need not be pursued prior to filing a formal grievance.

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The U.S. Department of Education provides commonly asked questions and answers, intended to help understand rights as a parent and student under FERPA.

Immersive Reader
Immersive Reader is a free tool that comes with Microsoft Edge and other Microsoft programs. It helps readers of all ages and abilities improve their reading. Originally designed to meet the needs of readers with dyslexia and dysgraphia, anyone can use Immersive Reader to increase their concentration and comprehension while reading. Use Immersive Reader with the Microsoft Edge browser to reduce ads, remove clutter, and increase focus on what you’re reading.

iStudiez Pro
iStudiez Pro – Legendary Planner (iStudiez Team) is an app for the iPhone, iPad, and Android devices that helps organize daily schedules and tasks at a glance. Real-time mode shows the user only what happens shortly.

MyHomework (Instin)
MyHomework (Instin) is an app where students can manage their school life. Available for the iPhone, iPad, and Android devices, it replaces the traditional student planner.

OneStep Reader (Sensotec)
OneStep Reader (Sensotec) is an app for the iPhone, Android, or Windows 10 device and converts any text to speech or Braille. Its text-to-speech and text-highlighting tools can be helpful for those with vision loss, dyslexia, and other print disabilities.

Voice Dream Reader (Voice Dream LLC)
Voice Dream Reader (Voice Dream LLC) is an accessible reading tool for iPhone and Android mobile and tablet devices. The app easily reads MS Word, PDF, and PowerPoint files on the go.

Counseling Center
The Counseling Center is a team of highly skilled professionals dedicated to serving the OC campus community and promoting student mental health and wellbeing.

Helping Hands Food Pantry
Helping Hands provides Ocean County College and Kean Ocean students with non-academic support to help them succeed. In the pantry, we offer snacks, drinks, and meals to students in need.

Student Support Services (SSS)
The mission of Student Support Services at Ocean County College is to assist and encourage first-generation college students, income-eligible college students, and/or college students with disabilities through the completion of a credential.

Testing Center
The Testing Center administers campus specific exams, make-up and accommodation testing to current and prospective students as well as distance learning exams, and national standardized tests for the community at large.

Tutoring
The Tutoring Center provides free and friendly academic support in a wide variety of subjects to supplement your coursework. Professional, paraprofessional, and peer tutors are well-trained and committed to helping you become independent, confident learners as you complete your degree and enter, or continue in, the workforce.

Veteran & Military Resource Center (V.M.R.C.)
The V.M.R.C. provides social, educational, recreational, mentoring, advocacy, leadership, and academic support services designed to ensure your well-being, success, retention, and graduation.

NJ Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DVRS)
The mission of the New Jersey Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services is to enable eligible individuals with disabilities to achieve an employment outcome consistent with their strengths, priorities, needs, abilities, and capabilities. Northeast ADA Center
The goal of the Northeast ADA Center is to educate and empower the diverse range of ADA stakeholders throughout New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands to increase their knowledge of the ADA, to support our stakeholders to include people with disabilities in local communities, and to implement the ADA in their own lives, workplaces, businesses, and communities. Office of Civil Rights (OCR)
Although students are encouraged to attempt to resolve complaints pertaining to disabilities by using the Ocean County College Grievance Procedures, they have the right to file a complaint directly with the U.S. Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights (OCR), Enforcement Office, 32 Old Slip, 26th Floor, New York, NY 10005-2500 or the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, Division of Civil Rights.
